Dorothy started painting and drawing at an early age. During her professional years she enjoyed teaching Art to young children at various schools in the Sydney area.
Impressionism had a great influence on Dorothy's work. The preferred medium is oils, and occasionally, acrylics. She believes that composition plays a vital part in the success of a painting.
While residing on the Central Coast for the past 16 years, she has entered paintings in many of the local Art Shows and Exhibitions. Consequently she has won many awards for her artworks.
Dorothy was instrumental in forming the well-known local Art Group, the Bateau Bay Artists, with the aim of promoting the beauty of the area by painting and sketching. Exhibitions are held at various times during the year.
Her paintings have been purchased by local residents and visitors to the Coast. Many scenes of the area have been sent or taken overseas as a reminder of a great holiday. Paintings have gone to USA, United Kingdom, Canada and Japan. |
