ruth-gilliganRuth Gilligan's art career began after she suffered a long illness in 1976. Attending art classes at Kogarah Technical College was the first step in the learning process toward a positive and creative outcome in her artistic career.

Concentrating full-time on art when she moved to the Central Coast, Ruth continued to attend classes run by professional artists. She was greatley influenced by the works of past Impressionists.

Ruth continues to paint in this style, preferring to work in oils. Motivation comes from the wonderful Central Coast scenery.

Experimenting with colour and painting from nature, Ruth has created many beautiful works.

People from diverse walks of life are buyers of Ruth's art. She sold many paintings whilst living in Tasmania, enjoying the change of scenery. Her paintings hang in collections in Tasmania and the Central Coast.
